ABOUT JOSIE KAO

I'm a Toronto-based journalist from Vancouver currently working at The Narwhal as an Assistant Editor. Previously, I was at The Globe and Mail as a Content Editor. I have a passion for reporting on marginalized communities and the hyper-local effects of international news.

I also served as the News Editor and then Editor-in-Chief at The Varsity, U of T's student newspaper of record. While there, I directed and supervised the editorial and business functions of Canada's largest student paper.

In addition to writing, I am experienced in copy-editing, fact-checking, photography, videography, and audience development. I also have working proficiency in Chinese Mandarin and French.
