ABOUT JOSIE KAO
I'm a Toronto-based journalist from Vancouver with a passion for reporting on marginalized communities and the hyper-local effects of international news. I previously worked at The Narwhal as an Assistant Editor and at The Globe and Mail as a Content Editor. You can find my words in National Geographic, The Toronto Star, and Canadian Geographic, among others.
I also served as the News Editor and then Editor-in-Chief at The Varsity, U of T's student newspaper of record. While there, I directed and supervised the editorial and business functions of Canada's largest student paper.
In addition to writing, I am experienced in copy-editing, fact-checking, photography, videography, social media management, SEO, and audience development. I also have working proficiency in Chinese Mandarin and French.
